Healthy Steps in Motion Classes 8-week session starting Mondays August 19 through October 14th 10-11 a.m. No class Labor Day & class for week of September 15th will be held Tuesday, September 17 from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Classes are taught by the Cumberland County Aging & Community Services Wellness Coordinator This 8-week class is a combination of simple exercises using a chair for support to improve strength, flexibility, and balance along with a short educational lesson. Small weights, resistance bands and balls will be used at class. During these classes you will learn the following: . Learn how to lower fall risk. . Learn how to make exercise a part of your daily life. . Learn how to exercise so that you'll get the most out of it. . Learn ways to exercise safetly! . Stay independent and active!

Watercolor Painting Opportunity: Mondays at 1:30 p.m. at the Center. Do you have an interest in water coloring? It takes space, inspiration and motivation, and we can help. Join our friendly group of painters with our new instructor, Kathleen Schungel, a retired art teacher of Cumberland Valley School District and a Big Spring resident. The cost is $1/week to the Big Spring Senior Center and $5/week to the instructor. Also, offered during this period is Adult Water Coloring.
Crafts: Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Center. We could use your help, hands and ideas.
Jewelry-Making Class: 1 p.m. Tuesdays, July 16 and 30, and August 13. Kathleen Schungel, who studied jewelry fabrication in college, will teach the techniques to create a variety of jewelry items. Cost for the class is $5.00
Bible Study: Every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Center. Come and join the conversation! In July and August Pastor Don Snyder of Doubling Gap Church of Godwill present the study "A Walk Along the Roman Road" with scripture from Romans. Drop-ins are welcome. Games at the Senior Center: Lots of opportunities to play cards and games can be found at the Senior Center. On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., we play 500 with a dedicated group of card players, and we always welcome new players. Come play board games with Bob Ballard, our leader. Don't ever consider playing games as frivolous; studies show that it stimulates your brain, which helps counter the aging process.
