Van Trips and Carpool Trips
Wednesday, July 3rd Come join us for a delightful evening of fine music and twinkling fireflies on the Rush Campus of Dickinson College. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. The van leaves the Senior Center at 6 p.m. in plenty of time for the music which begins at 7:30 p.m. Sign up and pay $5 for transportation by Monday, July 1st.
Monday, July 8: Trip to the Bent Pine Alpaca Farm, Carlisle, PA. How would you like to spend a morning & lunch visiting the alpacas? We have the opportunity to walk the alpacas, feed them treats and learn about this livestock animal. In addition, you will have the opportunity to make a craft item. Choose from a nesting ball, which is a grapevine ball stuffed with alpaca fiber to give the birds an all natural item to make their nests. Or you can opt to make a soap bar, which is soap wrapped in fiber (that has been washed & combed). Wrapping the fiber on the soap is called wet felting. They wet felt the soap bar & when it dries it will be your own natural luffa to use in the shower. Visit the store to see the wonderful products made from alpaca fiber. We will be leaving the Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. Per person cost is $15/member and $20/non-member. This includes your farm experience, picnic lunch, craft & transportation. Please sign up no late than Tuesday, July 2nd.
Wednesday, August 14th: Camp Eder Senior Day Camp, Fairfield, PA The morning program will be entitled "Gardening 101" presented by a Master Gardner. In the afternoon we will be building Terrariums. Enjoy a hot breakfast and a delectable lunch during your stay. The trip is all inclusive for $34 member and $28 non-member payable by Monday, August 12th. We will leave the Center at 8:00 a.m.
Thursday, August 22nd: Flight 93 Air Traffic Controller Speaker & Lunch: In anticipation of our bus trip to Shanksville (and Quecreek Mine) on September 12th, West Shore Senior Center has booked Mr. Mal Fuller from the Susquehanna Speakers Association to come to West Shore Senior Center and present a talk on Flight 93. Mr. Fuller is a retired Air Traffic Controller and dealt with Flight 93 before it crashed in Shanksville. He will be bringing the 20-minute video about why the Flight 93 memorial was constructed. Following the presentation, we will go out to eat somewhere in the area for lunch. We will be leaving the Big Spring Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. Cost of this trip is $5 transportation plus your lunch.
Wednesday, August 28th: Timbers, Mt. Gretna, PA Lunch & Matinee: Come join us for a delightful afternoon of food and fine music at Timbers in picturesque Mt. Gretna, Pa. Luncheon Buffett Menu includes Beef Scalopini w/Pasta, Turkey A la King, Breaded Fish, Steamed Rice, Two Hot Vegetables, Salad Bar w/trimmings, Crudites, Fruits, Salads, Hot Rolls, Hot Coffee and Hot Tea, Desert Bar including Pies and Cakes. The van and additional cars leave the Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. 18 tickets have been sold for this trip. "Summer of Song" is a two-act musical revue, delights with song, dance, and lively comedy. It visits the times and styles of American entertainment and is produced Live! The Timbers cast will dance their way into your hearts as they perform hit songs from the past and present, the Broadway state, classics and standards. Cost is $38 for members and $43 for non-members.
Thursday, September 12th: Memorial Trip: Trip includes Flight 93 National Memorial, Lunch Smorgasbord at Oakhurst Grille, Quecreek Mine Rescue Site, Guide, Guide Tip, and Transportation on a 54-passenger coach bus (2 buses). Cost is $105 per person. Branch Creek Place, the senior center in Shippensburg, is your host for this trip and has invited all Cumberland County Senior Center participants. Contact Cathy or Rausa if you are interested in going and we can set up a carpool to the Branch Creek Place to meet the bus. We will be leaving/carpooling from the Big Spring Senior Center at 8:00 a.m. for Branch Creek Place to load the bus.
VAN TRIP PAYMENT POLICY
A 50% deposit of the cost of the trip is due when you sign up. Payment in full is due two weeks before the date of the trip. If you must cancel, please get someone to go in your place; your deposit will not be returned. If we cancel the trip, you will be entirely reimbursed.
